Skincare Routine For Sensitive Skin
Hey Glam girlies!
Today I wanted to share with you some of my secrets and tips in making a tailor made skin care routine for you. These steps work for all skin but especially for those of us with sensitive skin or for when your skin is feeling a little extra sensitive; like the day before a big first date with that guy you’ve been crushing on for the past month, the night before a job interview that you really want to nail, or mother natures decided to visit. No matter what these tips will help you to be ready to fight off any signs of sensitivity and keep your skin looking and feeling like you got your daily dose of glamour.
• Tip One: Girl, Wash Your Face!
I know, we’re all tired at the end of the day but that make up has got to come off. Leaving your makeup on can clog pours which attracts acne-causing bacteria; Eww, who wants that? I recommend that you remove your makeup with one of my favorite products Neutrogena Oil-free makeup remover. This is so effective in removing your makeup, is oil free and is gentle on skin making it one of the best makeup removers in my opinion. After that make up is off, take time to gently exfoliate and clean your skin. I get it, this is a whole other step. I’m sure your thinking “Why do I need to do both; I just took off my makeup?” The thing is cleaning and exfoliating helps remove dead skins cells that are left behind, these skin cells can get trapped, which can irritate sensitive skin even more setting you up for a bigger problem. So take the time to cleanse and exfoliate. I recommend trying either Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub or Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser. These two take care of exfoliating, cleaning and are gentle enough to use every day.
Pro tip: Changing temperatures can aggravate sensitive skin. When washing and rinsing skip the extra hot water and use warm instead. Pat skin gently dry to keep skin feeling calm.
• Remember, just add warm water.
Now that your skin is all clean, it’s time to moisturize. Finding the best moisturizer for your skin can be tricky. I recommend one that is H2O or water based and for sensitive skin the best creams are the ones that are non-comedogenic. Non-comedogenic are skin care products or cosmetics that are specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pours. You worked so hard in the last step you definitely wouldn’t want to mess it up now with a bad moisturizer. I recommend Aveeno’s Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer. This moisturizer is made from a complex of soy and Salicylic acid to help moisturize and fight acne. This is one of the best non-comedogenic moisturizers out there right now since it uses a complex of soy to not just moisturize but reduce discoloration and brighten skin
• Wear Sunscreen Kids!
Just like that song Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen say “My best advice is to wear sunscreen.” Sunscreen is an essential step in protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Being able to pick the right one for your skin can help you in the long run. My best advice is to pick a sunscreen that fits your skin type and to reapply it often. One of my favorites is the CeraVe face sunscreen SPF 50. This is an oil-free, paraben-free, non-comedogenic sunscreen that also contains antioxidants that can help skin retain moisture. It is lightweight and has oat kernel extract that can help to reduce water loss in the skin.

These are the essentials to helping make your custom skin care routine. When I sat down to really decide what was best for my skin and to find products I kept all these pieces in mind so I could develop a core routine that would help my skin through any situation. I hope that you’ll find these tips useful and can apply them to your own skin.
